Data migration is one of the key operations in many enterprise data integration projects. Here software is purchased from one provider and has a direct relationship with the host. This makes migration to a new cloud provider easy, since one just needs to work with the software supplier to migrate to the new host and are not tied into one provider.
Data migration issue is not just about moving to another provider. Since some cloud providers have proprietary technology at times it may not support the solution that we want to stage before we put it live. That can create an interoperability problem. There are a lot of usage-based models at the moment, which doesn't suit everybody. There needs to be more variety and flexibility. Data security is also among cloud data migration challenges. Enterprises need to follow Security Policies to face such challenges.
